Specialist packaging company issues its Sustainability Report 2020

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Faller Packaging can look back on a successful fiscal year in 2020.The specialist for pharmaceutical secondary packaging increased its sales by around 2.2% to €143 million. The biggest project for the future is a new building for the company headquarters in Waldkirch, Baden Wuerttemberg.

The company publishes a sustainability report every year to provide the public with a comprehensive insight into the activities and changes at Faller Packaging – and 2020 was no exception. Entitled “Safely navigating the coronavirus crisis together”, the report highlights the current economic, environmental and social aspects of the company which specialises in pharmaceutical secondary packaging.

The pandemic also impacted on Faller Packaging in 2020, but not as severely as in many other companies. Despite the crisis, the manufacturer was able to increase its sales by around 2.2% to €143 million – not least due to the regular flow of orders from the pharmaceutical industry. “As a result, there was continued demand for our products even during the lockdown periods – and this demand was of course the main foundation for our economic stability,” says Dr. Daniel Keesman, Chief Executive Officer of Faller Packaging.

Expand capacities and secure the future
In 2020, investments were naturally lower than in previous years due to the pandemic, but Faller Packaging has big plans from 2021 onwards. For example, the company wants to expand the capacity of its Polish plant in Łódź – and the construction of the new headquarters in Waldkirch, Baden Wuerttemberg will be the largest investment in the company’s history, with total costs expected to be around €50 million. The new site offers space for a modern production hall with automated logistics and a high-bay warehouse, as well as a new administration building. “The new building will increase our efficiency and profitability, reduce our consumption of resources and leverage synergies by merging the two sites, making our production, logistics and administration fit for the future,” explains Dr. Michael Faller, Managing Partner of Faller Packaging.

Great ecological and social commitment
Faller Packaging is also on the right track from an ecological standpoint. The company continues to reduce its consumption of raw materials and has been able to achieve additional savings through the use of renewable energies. In the social sector, support for MAVUNO in Tanzania was again high on the 2020 agenda. The project aims to improve the living conditions of the rural population in the Kagera region. Modern cultivation methods and environmental protection are the cornerstones of the project. In 2020, for example, around 5,000 trees were planted thanks to the donation from Faller Packaging.
